Service F.A.Q.


How long will it take to fix my computer?
Please allow 3-5 days. After the diagnostic, additional time will be needed for the repairs to be performed. Our service is on a first come, first served basis. Every machine and problem is unique. To ensure each machine gets a thorough diagnosis and appropriate resolution, our technicians take great care to make sure the problems is solved correctly the first time. Resolution times will vary.

Can I make an appointment and bring my machine back when the wait time is less?
Since our service is on a first come first served basis, it would be unfair to other customers if our technicians were unable to work on other machines as they waited for you to return with your computer.


I have very important data. I can not afford to lose any of it.
At Monterey Bay Computer Works we take great care in the preservation of your data. However, due to the variables involved with computer repair, we cannot guarantee against data loss. To protect against this, we offer a data back service which can be purchased at the time when the machine is checked in.


Are these repairs covered under warranty?
For all Apple and MBCW Works Systems, you will be notified whether or not the service is covered under warranty. Some manufactures and insurance companies may reimburse the cost of the repairs. Please consult your PC manufacture or insurance company prior to bringing your machine into service.

I do not want to spend a lot of money to fix my computer.
The minimum charge is one hour of service. This is to cover a complete diagnosis. After the diagnosis, our technicians will call you with an explanation of the problem and an estimate of repair. You can then choose whether or not you want to go ahead with the service.


What if the problem returns after I pick up my computer?

MBCW warranties the service performed on the computer for 90 days. If the issue returns please notify out service department as soon as possible. Virus and Malware services ARE NOT warranted. Any parts installed in our service department are warranted by the manufacture only.
